a few weeks ago i had the symptoms of a panic attack. it happened very suddenly.. my heart was beating faster than normal, it felt like it was hard to breathe, and my body felt really hot, especially around my neck. i was also sort of shaky and a llittle dizzy. i wasn’t doing anything at the time that would’ve brought it on.. actually i was just watching tv.

ever since then, on some days it still will feel harder to breathe and my heart will race. it feels like there is a lot of pressure on my heart. it seems to help when i stand infront of my air conditioner for some reason. the one big difference from all the small things i’ve been having after this panic attack is, i don’t really freak out like i did during the panic attack.

these feelings also go away when i’m not at home which is really strange

i’m scheduling a doctor appointment, but i was just wondering if anyone knows what could be wrong?

I don’t eat very healthy, but I will try everything in my power to help myself with my anxiety problem. If it takes eating healthy, I’ll change my eating habits.

I’m also not very active. I mainly sit on the computer, I’m watching TV, or I’m writing poetry. Could an active life help me as well as eating healthy?

My anxiety problem is driving or riding in a car. I’m anxious of the movement. I can go 25mph and I still may have a problem. When I drive, I feel like something is holding me back. I can only go about 40mph and when there are cars behind me, I pull over to let them pass because it makes me more nervous if there are cars behind me. Nothing bad has happened to me to trigger this. I just don’t understand why I have this problem.

I have been harrassed a few times on the road for driving so slow, but people don’t know or understand my problem.

Any advice you could give me would be nice! Thanks to all!

Over the last couple days, I’ve been real anxious and nervous for no reason. I’ve even vomited a few times. I won’t be able to get to a psychiatrist until Monday. I’ve tried a few breathing techniques, relaxing and watching tv, and a few other things. It’s just weird, and I want it to stop. Any ideas?

I suffered from my first panic attack in October of last year. It was my only one, at least the one that lasted the longest and scared me the most. For a few weeks after, I was a mess and constantly had anxiety (mostly of having another panic attack). I was prescribed Zoloft but that lasted 3 days as I chose to work through this without meds. My doc prescribed me Ativan for the tough times but I can never seem to make myself take them. About a week ago, I started having a headache which lasted days and visited the doctor, thinking I had an anyeurism or tumor (health anxiety). My doc said I am fine and I was doing okay for a day or two. Tonight at work my heart felt fluttery and like it was beating out of my chest, and I was dizzy and out of it. This is what’s weird: sometimes when I am perfectly fine and just watching tv or hanging out with my friends, I get a "flash" of dizziness- it lasts about one second- but within a second later my heart is racing and I start getting anxiety. This happened 3-4 times tonight at work. My manager sent me home and within an hour the anxiety was gone. I am worried it might be something more serious than anxiety because I experience these symptoms when I am not anxious or nervous about ANYTHING. I am perfectly content with my life, family, friends, boyfriend, job, everything, and I am happy. So I wonder if it is anxiety really. Are there diseases or anything out there that cause symptoms similar to mine which people mistake for anxiety? Please help, i am a wreck right now :(
I am a 21 year old female, I am pretty healthy. 108lbs, 5′4". I smoke cigarettes but that’s about the extent of my health problems. I rarely drink, never did drugs, and I eat healthy. I am stressful sometimes but over silly things, not things worthy of anxiety.

I had an anxiety attack. it was like my breain floated away and rattles and i can feel my hands and i basically feel like im dying.I was not in a stressful moment…just watching tv… I have had a lot of crazyness in my life lately(health issues and death of family members) at first i thght i was having a stroke or heartattack or something and went to the ER…it was horrible. They swore I was fine and sent me home on ativan, which worked. after a week of ativan(i took as prescibed) i stopped taking and had another attack.I was peacefully chking my email this time… I wish i could explain how it feels…like im swirling or leaving my body, its so scary. I never realized how real they are! I am a 33 yr old female who always has considered herself very mentally in control!! what can I do…i am afraid to be w/o ativan but i know it is not a long term soulution…HELP…I just dont think i COULD BEAR IT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN….is any of this normal at all?? I feel crazy and helpless….

Heyy. I was arguing with my Mum a few nights ago over something silly and was all stressed…. then suddenly I felt like an almost overwhelming rush of dizziness, and I took a deep breath and tried to stay calm, and it passed in a few seconds. Afterwards, I felt shaky and a bit anxious. THen later that night I was watching TV, and I felt totally relaxed (but obviously still subconciously worrying about what had happened) and my heart rate went up and I got sweaty palms… felt a sense of impending doom. I was able to calm myself after a few seconds again.
Every day since for the past 4 days this is happening. I feel anxious in the mornings, fine at about midday and then I get a really dizzy feeling and then feel anxious for the rest of the day. I am experiencing rushes of mild dizziness and anxiousness at the moment. I am really worried and think I am experiencing anxiety and mild panic attacks.

Also, I doubled up my blood pressure medication (2 weeks ago) without telling the Doctors because I thought my blood pressure had risen (stupid I know), and my diastolic number is really low all the time now…… like 50 ish. And it dropped to 46 the other day. [it should be about 80 / 90 for me]

Do you think this could be causing the dizziness / anxiety? Low blood pressure symptoms are usually:

Dizziness, or feeling like you’re standing on a rocking boat
Changes in mental status (difficulty concentrating, confusion) or a sense of "IMPENDING DOOM" or ANXIETY
Changes in breathing patterns (fast, shallow breathing is common during an episode of low blood pressure)
Suddenly feeling cold or clammy, or a rapid onset of pale skin

I have all of these.
So do I have panic attacks, or just symptoms of low blood pressure? THanksss

So here is the deal i enlisted in the army national guard and was truthful at MEPS signed all my paper work and was ready to ship on november 13.

Well on this Sunday i was watching TV and suddenly i had trouble breathing my whole body went numb and started tingling. My family took me to the Emergency Room where i was treated. The doctor diagnosed me with anxiety attacks and to see my regular doctor for treatment. So After the ER i called my recruiter and told her what happen. She stated that i should see my regular doctor. So i saw my doctor the next day tbut in that time i had 3 more anxiety attacks.

So my regular doctor basically said that I need to get therapy before i ship to basic training due to the severity of the attack and because of the fact that i had never had this happen until this point. So she prescribed me some sedative to help me sleep.

So after seeing my doctor yesterday i called my recruiter and told her what happen and she said things didn’t look good and said i might need to get discharged. I have been pretty healthy and never had any attacks happen. I have always pretty much been the toughen up and get over it. But ever since my attack i haven’t felt Very well and i feel like im getting anxiety attacks often i cant even eat. What will happen will i get discharged and if so what kind of discharge i dont want this to ruin my life. All i wanted to do is serve my country and now i feel like shit because i might not be able to serve. Can someone let me know how things might play out because im so lost
So i talked to my recruiter who said i porbally wont ship tomorrow but still wants me to see the meps docotor. She said i will stay and drill in RSP until im cleared medicaly so it looks like i might not get discharged but what then happens next

I had smoked weed probably ten times untill i got my first panic attack. When i got it, my heart started racing, and i began telling myself it wasnt normal even though it probably was. Then it got worse, i felt like my heart was skipping beats, double beating, and i felt as though my heart was going to explode. I thought i was having a heart attack from the marijuana. I kept rubbing my chest, rocking back and forth… i was freaking out. I woke up my mom, and begged her to bring me to the hostpital. She called 911 and asked if i was having a heart attack and they guessed it was an extreme case of a panic attack. She comforted me for 4 hours before i passed out. I was shaking, my lips were blue, it was literally THE scariest moment of my life. I honestly thought i was going to die. So, afterwards i vowed i would never smoke weed again because of not only how pissed my mom was but what it did to me. But, a couple weeks later i got the same panic attack except not as bad while i was watching tv. It went away after a half hour or so but i continued to have these panic attacks 3 or 4 times a month and i stopped smoking weed. after seeing a councellor i managed to cure the panic attacks and i havent had one for 6 months. So my question is, why did the marijuana give me a panic attack? Will i ever be able to smoke again without reliving another one? Is there anything i can/should do to prevent them? I still have a little anxiety even though i dont have any more panic attacks, will that go away eventually?

my mom is 70 and had been on sythroid. not sure when they put her on .007mcg of sythroid but after a fall in July, she entered into hosp. dr up’ed it to 1.0 , i noticed a big change of anxiety, and she has gone downhill since. she is currently being treated for depression, anxiety, psychosis . Dr says it will take 4-6 weeks for med to make a difference. no one knows what causes psychosis in elderly, but i am wondering why Dr lowered the dose immediately to .025mcg?
they did check. i can’ t tell you the exact values, but in the chart there are 3 in a row, the 1st was normal, the middle one was low, and the 3rd one was normal. i don’t know why that makes sense, but they lowered it based on some of her symptoms, Physchiatrist on a senior behavioral unit,
not sure if she had always been on .007 mcg prior, but i know the increase in July was to 1.0mcg. i know that just a little change makes a big difference. Could my mom get better, and gain her mind back? she started acting poorly then too, stopped watching tv, and would just stare, sort of gave it up, she also has had hx of depression, and chronic pain with Rhuematoid arthritis. she also has had several UTI’s this year, and i understand this causes some of the confusion, dementia in elderly.
Could the symptoms of pshycosis and confusion go away when the thyroid levels are reduced? how long should it take for this to happen? Or could it have gone to far? leaving her with dementia, pshycosis permanantly? thanks for you well wishes, this is so difficult for us to comprehend , how this change has rendered my mom so mentally challenged.

I had an MRI test done about 2.5 yrs ago. I was laying down while the pounding took place. I was fine for 2-3 hours of tests until about the last 15 minutes. I felt that the blanket on me was going to "catch fire". I could tell that my mind was beginning to hallucinate, and my practical logical side of my brain went out the door. The technician stepped out for a break, and I could not get anyone’s attention. I panicked and began yelling her name and saying to get me out.

She finally returned, and I thought I survived without any wear.

Then, about 6 months ago, I went to a wax museum, and had to push my hubby (he’s in a wheelchair), and 1/2 of the display was fine, well lit and wide aisles. But the 2nd section was dark (it highlighted monsters), and was narrow, had to go through doors over & over, and the corners….oh man! I had to literally pick up the wheelchair and bit by bit turn the chair to go around the tight corners (that’s quite a feat, since I weigh 100# less than my hubby).
So, then I was trying to hurry it up, and it seemed to wind more & more and more & more doors and noises and I began to get panicky.
So, that is incident #1

Incident #2 happened about 2 wks ago. My hubby tries to save money on our utilities, so he doesn’t have the ac on, but does run the overhead fan. The temp in the apt can average 84-87 degrees. It isn’t bad if you get down to your skivvys. In any case, I was sitting there, watching TV and I suddenly felt that I was suffocating. I got up and felt like I had to run out of the apartment, but was able to settle myself back down. I literally felt that I was going to pass out & die right there.

Now, I have no history of panic attacks before these 2. Do you suppose that they are related to that MRI examination? Have you had something similar happen to you or someone you know? Would sailors in submarines have sensations like I had?
