First of all – I am trying to find a new dr so I can get some testing — if anyone knows of a dr in philly who is open to recommending natural treatments AS WELL as conventional/western medicine — please recommend.

I’ve gone my entire life with symptoms that point to hypothyroid. Lifelong depression, cold hands/feet, low blood pressure, hormone issues. Everytime they test my thyroid, they tell me I am fine. Twice two different doctors tested my tsh levels and said "nope you are fine" this year. I also had all bloodwork done and tests were all "normal."

Now my periods are late – but very heavy, low libido, angular chelitis, colitis bouts, fatigued all the time, depression and anxiety, and I am putting on weight for what feels like no reason. this can’t all be stress?!

I take enzymes (gabba, phenyalanine, 5-htp) for depression, sublingual b-12, multi vitamin, cal/mag/vit d, and probiotics daily. I don’t know how much more I can possibly to do help myself. I am so frustrated.

I am adding progesterone creme to the list to attempt to help the low libido…..I don’t know what else to do. I quit birth control pills hoping the low libido would regulate — it didn’t. it got worse.

Thoughts?

Any thoughts? recommendations? i know I need bloodwork – I’m working on that…

I have been having all the symptoms of hyperthyroidism which leads to panic attacks which then I get tense in my cheast area and think I am having a heart attack. I also have been getting bouts of consectutive heart palpitations, breathlessness , panicky, shakey, and severe dry eyes.

Has anyone here dealt with a Hyperthyroid? I have been having very bad anxiety attacks, and like these real rushes of heat that run through my body, and my hands and feet get real clammy feeling. At first I was diagnosed with GAD and started seeing a therapist who put me on a few meds. The meds help as far as calming me down during these episodes, but she also recommended I get a thyroid panel.

Could all of this suffering of anxiety, also fatigue and lack of sleep be related to an over active thyroid? I’ve even noticed that my hair has become somewhat brittle, as well as my nails. I eat a lot, but don’t gain weight, but don’t lose any weight either.

I have an appointment with my PCP tomorrow, and will request a thyroid panel, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.

I am going to be so ticked off if I’ve been seeking therapy for something physical all this time. It’s been hell!

And if it is an over active thyroid, how do they treat that? Does it go away with treatment, or is it controlled with meds?

Thanks Everyone for your feedback..

I have a constant yucky, swollen, sometimes constricted-feeling throat, VERY uncomfortable heart pounding & palpitations (i shake a bit because of it), headaches, and sometimes stomach aches. It’s pretty bad. Especially my throat and heart palps. I have no idea why I am having these symptoms. All I know is that the docs diagnosed me with an H. Pylori infection a few months ago. I’ve been sick ever since August. I was REALLY sick when I had the infection, so I think that maybe I am suffering from extreme anxiety from all of the physical and mental torment I went through… I am ALOT better than I used to be, but I still feel kinda sick. Somedays worse than others. I have had many tests done, such as 3 ultrasounds done of my heart, MANY MANY blood tests, urinalysis tests, an endoscopy (still waiting for biopsy results, but docs said everything seemed fine; no ulcerations, or inflammation. 24 Holtor Monitor, a stress test, physicals, etc. I look pretty healthy. I have a nice figure, and nice skin and hair. But I still think something else may be wrong. I know all my worrying could cause all my symptoms, but the feelings I have are really affecting my life. I’m only 17. I want to enjoy my life!! The docs can’t find anything else wrong with me. Nothing. I was diagnosed with the infection and got it treated, with a round of 3 diff. meds that I had to take for a month. Maybe it’s still there. Maybe not. The doc said I could live to 100 with how my heart was. I guess that’s a relief. :) I have had my thyroid checked, and some more stuff I think.

FYI: I don’t smoke or drink, I was always healthy normal teenage girl until I came back from Amsterdam on the bus ride home (I live in Germany), but I should get my heart trained more. But I’m just kinda lazy, lol. I ate some sea food, like clams or something at a Chinese resteraunt in Amsterdam before we left. Maybe just a coinncidence?

Any help, advice, thoughts, etc. are greatly appreciated!! ^^ Does anyone reccomend any special tests that they believe may help me in finding out what’s wrong with me?

my mom is 70 and had been on sythroid. not sure when they put her on .007mcg of sythroid but after a fall in July, she entered into hosp. dr up’ed it to 1.0 , i noticed a big change of anxiety, and she has gone downhill since. she is currently being treated for depression, anxiety, psychosis . Dr says it will take 4-6 weeks for med to make a difference. no one knows what causes psychosis in elderly, but i am wondering why Dr lowered the dose immediately to .025mcg?
they did check. i can’ t tell you the exact values, but in the chart there are 3 in a row, the 1st was normal, the middle one was low, and the 3rd one was normal. i don’t know why that makes sense, but they lowered it based on some of her symptoms, Physchiatrist on a senior behavioral unit,
not sure if she had always been on .007 mcg prior, but i know the increase in July was to 1.0mcg. i know that just a little change makes a big difference. Could my mom get better, and gain her mind back? she started acting poorly then too, stopped watching tv, and would just stare, sort of gave it up, she also has had hx of depression, and chronic pain with Rhuematoid arthritis. she also has had several UTI’s this year, and i understand this causes some of the confusion, dementia in elderly.
Could the symptoms of pshycosis and confusion go away when the thyroid levels are reduced? how long should it take for this to happen? Or could it have gone to far? leaving her with dementia, pshycosis permanantly? thanks for you well wishes, this is so difficult for us to comprehend , how this change has rendered my mom so mentally challenged.

ok, so i have been having all the symptoms of panic attacks, and every one of the 4 doctors i’ve seen came to the same conclusion…anxiety disorder, panic attacks…

they did cat scans, holtor monitor, ekg, thyroid tests and ultrasounds, and multiple blood tests

NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME BUT THIS PANIC THING!!!

how come i feel like there is something major wrong with me…

this jsut came out of no where…with no reason….i keep feeling like now im turning into a hypochondriac…

every ache and pain i think is something serious…

my leg hurt for the last 2 days, i keep telling myself its a blood clot….i had a 2 day headache, i though was a brain turmor…

i went from perfectly normal to a mental health freak….is this normal for panic things???

i have this….thing, its like im in this defense mode, im always waiting for a panic attack to happen….and now its like im expecting it to happen unless im really busy…

is being emotional part of it?

Well I just wanted to let you know things that I’ve been observing and doing for the past year that has helped me so much with bipolar, depression, anxiety. Seriously, I can’t even sleep for days without my heavy loads of medication, but these ways of doing things really helps with all of this. At first I thought it wouldn’t help then, I just tried and found it really helped. Here are some things that naturally helps that you can do on your own.

First of all never call your self sick or label yourself. You must accept yourself also. Just treat yourself for your symptoms, like a cold in a way. Notice your symptoms, like when you notice a cough, treat it, but don’t obsess over it, and you’ll notice improvement the best. Remember things can always be worse so make the most of what you can as you try to improve your situation.

To feel better you have to want it and believe you’ll be okay, and once you believe it and want it, you’ll start asking people questions and be interested on your own on how to be stable. You’ll also feel a relief that you will find help soon enough. All the help you need is within yourself and other places out there.

The body works by chemical reactions and foods are chemicals consumed to help the body carry on things that the body needs to do. So it’s important to get all nutrients needed. Take half a multi-vitamin a day, try taking vitamin b-stress complex daily, and take omega 3-6-9 supplements which is proven to help with nourishing the brain.Take it for a few weeks and you’ll notice the difference.

Also, mood problems can occur from hormonal imbalances, like low thyroid levels.
It is also very important to get sunlight daily which helps boost the mood. Exercise helps boost the mood and and take care of excess energy. It helps with better sleep at night.

Make sure you sleep and wake up at a regular schedule. Sleep is very important to help the mind heal and to be in a good mood. Get 8hrs of sleep each night. No more than ten because too much sleep can make you feel groggy.

Another thing is try to change any negative or stressful thought you have to an optimistic one. Even if it doesn’t feel like you believe it, tell yourself you believe it. I once was told everything is love, atleast some sort of love, and everything else is your own perception. Jealousy, hate anger, resentment takes away calmness from people, and a sense of peace in ones’ mind is important. it’s also important to have a general love for humanity.

Also stay away from stimulating things, no hair spray, markers, chocolate, tea, coffee, horror flicks. Anything that causes that high or rushed feeling causes stress on the body.

I am 15 years old 153 pounds 5′ 81/2"my CBC was normal my mono test was negative my thyroid test was normal and my strep test was negative the doctor couldn’t see anything wrong with me after i told him my throat hurt i got headaches and my chest hurt. he prescribed prozac for depression and anxiety because i have a lot of stress in my life. but i forgot to tell him some symptoms and im worried that he might have found something wrong had i told him these.
What i told him: headache, lots of stress in my life, loss of appetite throat hurt but not when swallowing, chest pain (vague)
What I wish i had told him: joint pain sometimes, pain in and under rib cages, feeling of throat soreness when you cough for a very long time yet i have no cough, mucus build up in back of throat/spitting mucus out almost constantly, that im worried its sinusitis or maybe something else physical.
could it still just be anxiety/stress? if it was sinusitus would he notice by looking at my eyes/nose/ears? if there is any other possibility of what is wrong with me what could it be? is excess mucus and what i feel that i forgot to tell him still be a part of anxiety/stress? Help Please!!
my back hurts really badly now too and the back of my neck has been hurting too
i also have gas somewhat and my stomach is like gurgling

I went to the ER about 2 months ago because of an anxiety attack. He referred me to see a phychologist. He said I’m developing generalized anxiety disorder. I worry all the time about me health because of the anxiety symptoms. I don’t get attacks anymore…I’m just in a state of anxiety all the time. I’ve had a blood test, EKG, and a thyroid test. I have symptoms like chest pain, tingly arms & hands, headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue etc.

This has been going on most of my life but I didn’t have any symptoms for a long time until after i had my daughter. I then started having blood pressure problems, and I am on 50 mg of Toprol a day for that and Anxiety. I am up to 200 mgs of Zoloft a day for both the depression and anxiety. I take Clonapin for anxiety and I also wanna throw in here that I have under active thyroid disease that is being monitored carefully. Problem is- i am having numbness and tingling in my sinus area and in my finger tips. My doctor says that it is my panic symptoms returning. I don’t understand this as I have been given a ton od medication. I don’t normally feel nervous but I have a lot of physical anxiety/stress symptoms. I was just looking for thoughts on this matter- does anyone experience similar things or do you know of a way to overcome this. I am very tired of it all. I am tired of worrying all of the time over something I really know is not serious. When you have a baby, you worry more anyways. Please give me some opinions anything so I can have a better more thorough sicussion with my doctor.

Thank you
