I am seriously worried that I am about to have a heart attack. I went to the ER on June 6th, because I went to bed with a headache and woke up with a HORRIBLE headache. I was light headed and felt like I was going to pass out. I had a baby in January and my blood pressure increased and was high during the last three weeks before I delivered. I never had high blood pressure prior to getting pregnant. I was scheduled to have a c-section on a Friday, but ended having to do it two days early due to high blood pressure. The weird thing is that it hasn’t gone away and it’s been almost five months later.

Anyway, my blood pressure was 165 over 89 (or it may have been 165 or 98, can’t remember exactly) when I was went to the ER a couple of weeks ago. They gave me some pain medication and fluids through an IV, did an EKG and an MRI of my head because I had a severe headache with no history of migraines. The EKG was normal and if I’m remembering correctly (I was sort of out of it when the doctor came in) he did see some fluid over my left eye on the MRI. Just as a little history, I had an abscessed tooth for 7-8 years. I got it pulled a couple of years ago but I think I let it go too long because I lost a little vision. It’s very blury in that eye.

I followed up with a PCP the next day and was prescribed some blood pressure pills (my blood pressure was around 145 over 82 or something that day), as well as a strong antiobiotic because she saw fluid in my left ear and said my left nostril seemed inflamed. Well, today, I am still feeling horrible and have been since my trip to the ER. My head isn’t hurting today but I am having chest pain on my left side. It’s almost like my chest is full and it’s contracting. I can breathe in and out fine but yesterday my stomach was hurting a little. I also feel hot and this weekend I broke out into a sweat and it was cool in my house. I feel lightheaded all the time.

I don’t want to run back to the ER because I feel they won’t do anything. Plus I don’t want my claims to be denied through insurance for non-emergency ER visits. The PCP was only open until noon today. Do you think I should go back to the ER? I have also been having episodes of what feel like minor panic attacks. I have always had anxiety … my whole life in fact, and have never felt like this. I don’t take any anxiety medication or anything. I almost 33, 5 ft. 2 in., 164-165 lbs. (was 145-146 pre-pregnancy).

I have been having a lot of physical health issues lately (numbness/weakness in limbs, chest discomfort, trouble breathing, visual disturbances, etc.). I’ve had blood work, x-rays, CT scan, MRI, seen a neurologist… no one can find any thing wrong physically. My doctor insists that all my symptoms are related to stress/anxiety and wants me to see either a psychiatrist or a psychologist. So my questions are: Will seeing either really be able to help with these physical symptoms? Which would be better to see in my case?

I was diagnosed with anxiety about 5 months ago and am currently taking Zoloft for it. I am a first time mom and my son is 8 months old. Following childbirth, I had eclampsia with seizures. Ever since I had these, I am TERRIFIED of having another one…which doctors say is HIGHLY unlikely! Well, since then I have had bloodwork, 2 MRI’s, CAT scan, and all kind of heart tests. I still get lightheaded at times…and my heart feels like it is beating fast and I feel like Im going to faint. I cant stand feeling like this! Do you think the lightheadedness could be due to the Zoloft? Also, there is no way that heart attack symptoms could last this long, right?
