I have been actively taking anti-depressants for almost a year now. I am currently taking Lexapro (20mg). I am fed up with the weight gain!! I am a very short person, and I am pushing 150 pounds. I thought about switching from my Lexapro to St. John’s Wart because I would like to take a more natural approach to my treatment. My doctor said that my weight gain is from taking my Klonopin for my anxiety. (I only take the Klonopin as needed, which isn’t very often. I take the Lexapro once a day). I seriously think it’s from the antidepressants!

Has anyone tried St. John’s Wart for depression? Have you had any luck with it. Is there anything else that you would recommend? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you.

Back in high school I smoked some weed. I had an anxiety attack for three days straight. My doctor had to prescribe me klonopin to weaken the attack. I’ve always had anxiety. So, I didn’t tell my doctor it was from smoking pot. Ever since then it’s been hard to swallow. I don’t know if it’s a mental, or physical problem. I quit smoking after that. To see if it would clear up my symptom. I was also diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder after this. I had the craziest phobias, and thoughts ever for about three years after this. I have grown out of the Ocd. I have not smoked weed since then. But, I still don’t know why I have trouble swallowing. Can somebody explain this to me?
I haven’t asked my doctor because, I have no health insurance and, can’t afford testing or to ask him about. I can’t afford insurance either.

I have been on benzos (ativan and klonopin before that) for acute anxiety disorder, and though I have figured out how to stop the mental panic, I am still getting physical symptoms (chest pain, "butterflies" ) and I am in summer grad school, so I usually do not have time for the fogginess of benzos.

I have avoided taking this due to the necessity to study, but today has been almost an entire "out of body experience". I feel disconnected and well, weird. I have checked my BP all day, and it is in the 130/80 range (it is usually in the 115/70 range). Is this what is causing my feelings?

I have known people with BPs in the 200s, and they don’t feel this way. Is it the change from normal? What is going on?!?

Has this proven to be an effective means to address acute anxiety?

I’ve been suffering with social anxiety and generalized anxiety disorder most of my life. I often feel alone in my symptoms and plight. Some of my symptoms feel strange and uncommon from what I’ve read most people experience. Along with the usual worries, fear of loss of control, and despondency, my other serious problems are uncontrollably shaky hands and numbness around my mouth to the point of being unable to speak clearly. Anyone else experience this? I just talked with my doctor yesterday and he put me on Lexapro and Klonopin. Have only ever been on Zoloft and Xanax in the past. Anyone had success with these meds? All help is appreciated. I’m very scared…

Does anyone have any experience reports on the efficacy and especially affects on anxiety levels with these two families?
I was on Adderall IR 30mg 2x a day, then Adderall XR 60mg, then vyvanse 140mg, and I’ve tried (without a scrip, yes, abuse, I was ignorant at the time), Concerta twice, which I know to be Methylphenidate-based. I want to try Focalin XR, as I’ve read a lot of good things over Concerta. Reason being, Vyvanse maybe lasts a little too long in the keeping-me-awake department, so yeah. Main thing I want to know, though, is ANXIETY LEVELS with these meds comparitively, as Amphs do very little to make my anxiety worse, and Concerta nearly made me have a panic attack and made the anxiety much worse (worry, fear of death, racing heart, chest pain, all true signs of anxiety attack), and I’m on 1mg Klonopin 2x a day for panic/anxiety(started before any stimulant ADD meds) already, and had taken my morning dose that day.
I’m wondering if focalin XR, since it’s a different type of Methylphenidate, may have a more positive effect in terms of anxiety, and maybe even on better focus and impulse-control over Amphs (I didn’t have a good way to record such info with concerta, as when I focused, it was either on school, or my anxiety).

For a reason I won’t discuss, Adderall IR or XR are forever, or at least until I leave the area (6m-1y), out of the picture, or I’d be on Adderall XR 60mg right now, since with it I’ve never felt, happier, socialable, easier to get along with, more concentrated, and in control of my actions, in my entire life. Saddenning I cannot get this, in my opinion, miricle drug, any longer. Not to mention it’s the only medication that’s help my pretty severe depression. No SSRI depression med ever worked, and without it I just feel hopeless and down all the time. Call me a sissy, but I probably cry every day.

Oh well. Concerta DID improve my mood, aside from the extreme anxiety it caused so I’m not worried about that about the other class of drug.

Enough with my Vyvanse-induced rambling. Haha

Thanks for all the help. Looking forward to detailed and helpful responses

Excuse some moronic grammatical errors. I switched effect with affect, at least once. I also typed this considerably quickly. Do forgive, do forgive. Hahaha
That’s so irritating, though. Wanting to be a writer and linguist doesn’t allow grammar errors, in my opinion. haha XD OCD boy over here.

I suffer from panic attacks and mild agoraphobia. Currently I am seeing a Psychologist who is working with me using Cognitive Behavior Therapy but I have seen him only one time. My last major panic attack which is my first was back in December of last year. Ever since then, most of everyday I have a problem with shortness of breath, a choking feeling in my throat, dizzyness, feelings of faint, having a tight band on my head, headaches and visions problems like squinting and burning of the eyes. This is beginning to be bothersome to me and it feels like it would trigger a panic attack and of course, I dont want this to happen. Does anyone have a cure to this? I’ve been perscribed Zanax for my immediate panic attacks and later perscribed Klonopin for everyday use. I have not used my Klonopin yet because of mixed feelings about it. Does this medication help with this? I heard that relaxation exercises work to cure this. If so, where can I find out how to do it? Any info is appreciated.

please help me! my meds were changed from 300mg Wellbutrin to 150mg and 60mg Cymbalta. This is the first day i’ve started with cymbalta. Now i am freaking out and i don’t know what else to do. My mom ended up giving me two klonopin the help calm me down because it might be an anxiety attack (runs in the family). It’s been about 15 min since i took the second one, and i’m still strung up.
I can’t concentrate when there are a lot of people talking, i’m shaky/twich, i have this feeling of extreme excitement without the happy part (i guess you could say panic…but it doesn’t seem like that). i have a headache and my neck, back, and shoulders are tense. i feel so drugged up right now its hard to even type this. i have several minutes when it feels like an out of body experience…(i’m there and i can see everyone but it feels like i’m standing ten feet behind my eyes…if that makes sense. kinda like i’m gonna pass out but there is no ringing ears or sweating like usual.) i keep laughing uncontrolably about nothing! this is so freaking annoying!

Is it withdrawal symptoms from lowering Wellbutrin, is it starting Cymbalta straight off at 60mg, is it an anxiety attack, or could it possibly be a manic/hypomania episode? (There is some bipolar in my family) My mom’s calling my psychiatrist tomorrow, but what do i do right now.?
0.o“`~~~whoa, now i feel loopy
any suggestions on what i can do until tomorrow? Thank you all in advance

Mine does, its extreme white coat syndrome. Dr. says treat the panic and bp will be normal. Its true. Mine is normal out of the medical setting. Its not high bp. The bp is secondary to the panic. Klonopin works very well. Don’t know how people with panic disorder, and panic attacks with appointments can ever get acurate numbers with bp. Understanding of this disorder is very much needed. When we panic, doesn’t mean we have high bp, its the adrenaline. As long as it returns to normal, just like when we excercise. An understanding dr. with this disorder is so refreshing. With my experience, its hard to find a understanding mental health professional. I wonder if they have really had this disorder. I have gotten to the point of telling them No this is how things need to be. BETTER TREATMENTS. I have been to the er so many times with side effects and more panic from many of those drugs for this. NO WAY. We can only learn from those who have been helped, or cured.

I have been taking Klonopin for anxiety for about 2 weeks. After I take it one time the effects of it last and it takes care of my anxiety for a bit, but then my anxiety symptoms come back, but I feel the effects of the drugs still. I feel like I need to take more so that I don’t have another attack. I feel like I am drugged up all the time. Has anyone had this experience with this drug?
