Hi,
I live my life in constant isolation. I can go days without leaving my tiny apartment. I hate people. I am very sensitive. I struggle to make friends. I cannot get a girlfriend no matter what. I am smart and good looking, but I am closed off to any social interaction. I am scared, angry, and confused about people. Mostly confused, because I can’t see myself ever changing my ways. I simply hate people for all their atrocities, and my experiences with them have been painful and traumatic. So I lock myself further and further away…

What worked for you? I am DX with Bipolar I, ADD, OCP, & Anxiety Disorder. I am 30 years as of tomorrow and have been suffering since I was 14. DX since I was 19. I am disabled and am receiving SSD. So I am serious here. I was once a bank manager making almost 100K per year winning many awards for being the top sales person & manager. I was really successful until the worst took over.
I am asking people who have had experiences with the natural supplements if they worked. I have bought the Dr. Daniel Amen system and will be attending his seminal in 11/09. He suggests Fish oil and many other treatments.
What worked for you? In the past years I dealt mostly with the manic side but within the past 2 years I have been dealing with the depressive side. Medications made me gain 40 pounds within 6 months. That in itself makes me very depressed. I am trying to lose weight and have stopped all of my meds. I have also had a problem with alcohol. I have gone 2 weeks without drinking. I was on Lamictal, Ativan, dextrostat (ADD), & Prozac.

A good friend of mine was first prescribed Deanxit and then Nalion as part of a treatment for her anxiety attacks. I can’t find a lot of info on the net regarding those drugs, especially about Nalion. Any experiences or hints where to find out more details? Thanks.

So last thursday I went to the ER cause I had tightness in my chest, heart palpatations and the feeling like i couldn’t take a deep enough breath (the urge to yawn all the time).
By blood oxygen was normal, and they couldn’t find anything wrong, which led them to believe an anxiety attack. Okay, i can buy that.
It’s been a week since then and I still have a tight feeling in my chest (most notable my sternum) and sometimes a little twinge of pain in my right pectorial. On top of this I feel like I can’t get a deep enough breath, still. I’m not getting anything useful from Kaiser Permente (useless HMO) so i thought I’d ask a yahoo question. Any ideas what I should do or things I can do to help? Any similar experiences, and what did you do?

If so, please relay your experiences, as I am eager to know if it worked. And if so, was it as effective as orthodox medication such as valium, diazepam, xanax, etc?
Furthermore, would you recommend it?

My 23 year old daughter is the youngest of three children. She is a lovely girl who graduated from a fine University one year ago. She took a job right after graduation with a large retail company and was hired into a management training program. Within a few months she started to suffer from anxiety attacks and her health started to fail. She developed all kinds of somatic complaints including some physical problems like severe acne which she had never had before. All physical exams and blood work came up negative. She would not take antidepressants but tried exercise and yoga. She quit the job and things improved but now I notice she is starting to suffer from anxiety and hypochondria again. She calls me on the phone every few days telling me she is sure she has skin cancer or lymphoma. Because I am a nurse I know her symptoms are not related. In the past we determined that 24 hours after any alcohol she would go through these fragile times. Any ideas or similar experiences?

natural methods? herbs? meditation? yoga? exercise? What worked for you and how long did it take to be able to control your anxiety and panic attacks? I am currently taking xanax but that is addictive and I had horrible side effects with Lexapro to which, my doctor took me off of it…I don’t want to take medication since this is the first time (week) that I have experienced such a high level of anxiety. Any advice, experiences, websites, or support websites would be appreciated. Thanks : )
In addition, the reason that I do not want to take medication is because I do fear the side effects of most medication as they can almost outweigh the problems that I am currently having…
St. John’s Wort never really worked for me though I never gave it long enough to work…Anyone use Valerian Root to combat anxiety?

I am on Zoloft for anxiety disorder. The side effect was at first a decrease in OCD symptoms and depression for two and a half years. When I went from 50mg to 100mg due to depression, the OCD symptoms seem to increase.
After a recent twenty day stay in the hospital due to pneumonia complications, I have returned home and back to my normal schedule. For almost two weeks I was without Zoloft. Though I was sedated for a bit of that time, I was OCD free for about two-three weeks of awake time. I felt free of OCD finally for the first time in twenty years. After a couple weeks of taking the medication again, my mood seems slightly down and my OCD seems to be back again.
My symptoms aren’t life altering, but they are annoying. I understand that after suffering a traumatic experience heightened OCD is normal, but could Zoloft be irritating my condition?
Does anyone know of similar experiences?
Thank you in advance

I have been suffering from panic attacks for the past couple months up until now I have been trying to deal w/ them naturally without medical intervention(I am terrified of dr’s, I have had several bad experiences). At this point I am to the point that I feel like I have to see a psychologist, what I am wondering is what goes on at the initial appt., is there a huge medical exam and lots of tests performed or is it mainly discussing what is going on. with me.

I was taking clonazepam for about a month and half, .5 mg per night, so really not much at all. I was recently taken off this medication and have been having a lot of problems with insomnia and panic attacks, anxiety, shakiness, chest tightness etc. My problem is: is it the anxiety/depression causing this, or the withdrawal from the clon.? Would being on the small of dosage for that short of time have any withdrawal symptoms, and if so, would they last a week or just a couple nights?
I usually don’t have withdrawal symptoms (at least really noticable ones) when coming off of medications except when I went off effexor, but I was on a super-high dosage of that. The only reason I am asking this question is that the lack of sleep is literally driving me nuts, and just making me feel worse. So although I am going to be talking to my psych more in depth about it, I thought I would get opinions/experiences from you guys as well
.
Thanks
0.5 mg not 5 mg just so everyone knows, and it is the intro dose for this med.

I have been having chest pain (tightness, and sudden sharp pain in the center and on both sides of my chest) for the past week and a half. It also causes me to feel short of breathe, but I’m not sure if this is just because I am anxious about the pain. I have been on the nuvaring for about two years, so I got scared that it was a blood clot or heart problem. I went to the doctor and they ran a blood test (for the blood clot), did an EKG, and a chest xray. All came up negative for a blood clot or any heart condition. The doctor said that it might be muscular and gave me a pain killer and muscle relaxant to take at night. She said if the pain doesn’t go away in a week or so, to come back. I have been taking them for about two days now, and I don’t feel any better. I feel less anxious, knowing that nothing is wrong with my heart or lungs. However, the chest tightening and discomfort is still there. And I haven’t injured myself in any way to cause a muscular pain. Also it comes and goes throughout the day, so I would think if it was muscular it would be all the time? So I am very confused. Has anyone experiences this before? I am starting to wonder if it is just anxiety, but I don’t feel upset or depressed about anything. I have been quite busy lately planning a wedding and working long hours, so maybe that is the cause? Does anyone know any other complications that could cause chest pain?
Other info: I am 24 years old and in good health besides this chest pain.
Thank you for your help, in advance!
