Since ive noticed (the past 3 months or so), i have all the symptoms of G.A.D (general anxiety disorder). I was curious with others knowledge/exp. This Tues, im going to see this family dr, (new dr) whom ive never seen yet, due to my insurance changing. My question is, since i have yet to see him, even with me explaining my anxiety symptoms/problems, will he give me a prescription for anxiety on my first visit? Or will i have to come back or go to another doctor? I tried Xanax once before when i had a panic attack, and it really calmed me down. Will he give me Xanax or Valium if i ask? I know there are alot of drs who are reluctant to give out meds like these, cause unfortunately the people who abuse it decrease the chance of others who do need it. I dont want to be put on anti-depressants. Just something for my anxiety to take whenever i feel like im going to have a panic attack. So again, j/w if this tues he will give me anything being my 1st visit & can i ask for the meds i want?

I’ve been to SEVERAL dr appts because of having almost constant anxiety attack symptoms. I’ve had this for the past 2 months just after having my car break down. (I live with 3 rowdy kids, car keeps breaking, cant find a job, money getting low, dad died 8 months ago unexpectedly). All my symptoms include, high heart rate, high blood pressure, temp goes up to 99.5 or so, feel like my throat gets so tight and I cant breathe, feels like food getting stuck in chest, upset stomach, cant eat literally for days at a time (I force myself and keep drinking water).

I have been told by several drs its anxiety but had a hard time accepting it because its so scary and dont want to deal with it forever. I was prescribed a VERY small dose of beta blocker which i take 1/4 a pill and ativan for when it gets bad. I was also prescribed aciphex for possible GERD. The aciphex is working and the beta blocker is making my heart rate and bp low but it doesnt seem any of the other stuff is (breathing and throat tighening is CONSTANT and makes me feel like I cant eat). I have been evaluated soooo many times, EKGs, blood tests, CTs, Xrays, scopes, barrium swallow and I could keep going on and everything looks great. Im a 26 yr old female. I feel now like I cant even work because I feel bound to my house because when I get in the car I start shaking and cant breathe. This has been going on for 2 months now and I just NEED it to go away.

Has anyone experienced this and if so what can I do?? What works best OTHER then breathing, which I continue to try constantly. My mom and aunt had this at about my age and it disappeared for both of them just as fast as it came.

I have had panic disorder for over 20 years, and Us phobics know that panic makes us have high bp spikes, then back to normal. More understanding of this disorder would be so helpful. I hate reading that panic people are more pron to high bp. What? unbelieveable. We might at times need to take benzos for our panic, this is something also that needs to be understood, We might need these meds the rest of our lives at times. Drs. should have some panic and see how we feel. I have talked to many about this disorder. And I am sensitive to many meds for this. Only can take occassional benzo. I would never want to try another med for this disorder. I have been to the er many times with side effects. Tests, dr. visits, then shrink…no way. Why would I want to see a shrink for panic disorder when we are not mental emergencies. More pills and sicker…not for me. Hoping for better and safer treatments.

I was in a car accident 2 months ago (hit hard from behind and my neck flew back) and the pain and problems from it have progressed. At first I was a little dizzy, minor back pain and neck stiffness. Now I am so dizzy I feel like it gave me vertigo, jaw pain, spine pain. I have been also suffering with severe chest tightness on and off where I can feel the muscles so tight! I took a chest x-ray and it was fine. Could this be from getting whip lash or because my back muscles are tight it went to my chest? Drs. are telling me its anxiety but Im not buying it. Also, I was on a corticosteroid and started getting severe chest tightness but I was only on it for 2 weeks and have been off it for a month would the symtoms still be in me?

What can be causing this chest tightness? Could it be the car accident?

Would car accident symtoms get worse over a period of time? Why didnt I feel as bad the day after the accident as I do 2months later?

I know this is probably a question only Drs would know but I can’t find anything on it. My dad went to the Dr with anxiety attack symptoms (fast heartbeat, worrying something terrible is wrong) and the nurse rushed him for blood work to check his white blood count and the Dr said if the Xanax didn’t work they’d run more tests. This worried me a little because I have no idea what it would be if it wasn’t anxiety/panic attacks. If anyone has any ideas…thanks
