You need a new doctor, really... this sounds more serious than anxiety, and they get it wrong alot... please ask for a referral to a neurologist and ask for an MRI of the brain..You should also have your neck and back MRI'd for injury.....insist on these.... this could be multiple sclerosis, autoimmune, or something ... you need a new doctor, find an internal medicine specialist that listens to you...
Once they think it is 'mental', they tend to stop looking for the right answers....insist on more tests...
I would also insist on a complete hormonal panel done, including thyroid, (ideal range between .3 and 2, remember that and ask and get copies), sex, adrenal, cortisol levels...
Also, ask for a glucose tolerance test for diabetes, and see if they will test for deficient minerals, etc.
See if you can see an allergist, and get tested for food, chemical and other allergies...
Fire your currant, ignorant, doctor, or insist that he/she helps you properly..... that is ridiculous response from them.. you can tell them others think it is , too.....

Hey, I truly understand how you feel...

The "impending doom" feeling and the fight-or-flight response. I've been there. I'm an ex-victim.

Do NOT buy Panic Away, Linden Method, EasyCalm or the Panic Puzzle. They do NOT work - I've tried them. Medications do NOT work - I was under many antidepressants (Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil and Zoloft) and anti-anxiety medications (Ativan, Klonopin, and Xanax) but my condition was the same - no improvement at all.

The only program that really work is The Panic Attack Solution. It's found by an ex-victim. You can check out his old blog in his official website to read up some useful tips.
But the package is the best - it teaches 17 powerful techniques and the real solution to panic attacks. I've bought it and it really helped me - it's the BEST anti-anxiety package or book I've read.

I'm 19 and have had anxiety disorder since I was 11. In the beginning, I would lose the ability to walk--my whole body would go numb, and I couldn't even talk. Then I had seizure-like episodes that weren't fun. Sometimes I'd wake up in the middle of the night with adrenaline surges through my wrists. I haven't been myself for a long time. But I'm working on it.

I think first you need to try therapy and meds. Anxiety, as hard as it is to believe and as ridiculous as it sounds, can make you feel like something is horribly wrong with you -- whether you're consciously anxious or not. However, if the combination of therapy and meds doesn't get rid of your pain, then you should definitely see a doctor. I hate when doctors automatically stop listening to a patient when they find out they have a history of anxiety. Get your thyroid thoroughly checked--TSH, Free T3, Free T4, and antibodies...when a thyroid is out of whack, it gives some people a case of the crazies. ;)

And I have to say something related to what Eve (the answerer above me) said: What worked and didn't work for her means nothing. Everybody is DIFFERENT. Don't say "no" to something just because it didn't work for another person. Pay attention to yourself and YOUR needs. Keep other people's experiences in mind, but don't let it necessarily influence how you treat YOUR problems.

Feel better soon :)

You need to get professional help. There are plenty of medications that could help you as well as therapy. There is no need to live life this way.
