Anyone have to deal with anxiety while pregnant?
I’m only 10 weeks pregnant and suffered from an anxiety disorder for years before I became pregnant. I was doing well and was off of medication for 3 months before I became pregnant, but now it’s getting really bad again. I worry constantly about the baby. The worst part is the anxiety drives up my blood pressure and heart rate. Has anyone else suffered from really bad anxiety while pregnant? Did it get better? How did you overcome it? How did your doctor handle it?

I understand you totally. I have agoraphobia, slight post traumatic stress disorder, and severe anxiety/panic attacks,andanxiety/depression. I am 10 weeks pregnant also. I don’t know how they’re going to handle mine yet. It’s undecided, but something’s gotta be done about it soon,as I stopped taking my meds when I was 4 weeks along, but over time it’s seemed to get worse (the disorders). It’s not getting better, over time,it’s getting worse. My dr. wants me to see my psychiatrist to see what he thinks is necessary for all of this. I’ve heard/read/gotten answers that stuff like zoloft works well for it. Good luck,if you get really good answers, let me know lol, Good luck with the pregnancy!!
EDIT- I don’t understand, maybe some people can stop taking all meds, for some of us,it’s not that easy. For me,it hasn’t been/isn’t.
i have exactly what you have and i’m an a generic pill for buspar, it works wonders for me, and i was off it for awhile before i became pregnant too then i started having very severe panic attacks and i could feel my heart race, just talk to your doctor because that medication does not affect the baby so its safe during pregnancy, hope this helps
i was also told that you should NOT be taking zoloft while you are pregnant, i used to be on that and it wasn’t good at all, he told me that even before i got pregnant like while i was planning to tell him so he could get me off of zoloft, not good to take while pregnant
I did… But I never took meds.. I never wanted too. I just dealt with my problems and how to deal with anxiety. I’ve had anxiety attacks while pregnant. You just have to learn to relax and know that a anxiety attack will pass.
I had the same problem. I was hysterical all the time. I was always afraid something was wrong. I couldn’t even bare to look at the ultrasound screen.
my blood pressure used to plummet and i would faint every time i went to the obgyn because i was afraid tgey were going to give me bad news.
i was never on meds for my anxiety disorder but i go to a therapist. it helps some
good luck!
I suffered from anxiety badly before i became pregnant and i was on medication for it which i continued throughout my pregnancy. I would suggest going to the doctor early and explaining your situation because there will be some medication that you can go on that is totally safe in pregnancy. And the right medication will do much much less damage then bad anxiety attacks. Your baby will be fine, he/she is very safe in your belly!! I would suggest meditation also (not that i have tried it but i heard it was good) or when you have anxiety attacks remind yourself that your body is made to carry children and your baby is getting only the very best from you and is well looked after. Also when you have anxiety attacks close your eyes, breathe in and out twenty times slowly and deeply, this will help get your oxygen circulating which will be helpful for you and baby. Don’t worry, you will get through it and you and baby will be happy and healthy!! It is still early stages so your hormones are going wild and your emotions are still mixed. It will calm down soon but until then see a Doctor and practice breathing when you feel the onset of an attack
Good luck with your pregnancy and baby!!!
I’ve had anxiety attacks for a few years as well and found out recently that I was pregnant. I wasn’t taking any medications because I didn’t like how dull it made me feel. I was only taking Propanenol for emergencies. I am dealing with the panic attacks the best way I know how.
Good luck.
