Anxiety as a result of Marijuana Withdrawal?
I’ve smoked for about 2 years, although I rarely smoke more than 2 or 3 times a week. However, over the last few weeks, I’d say that I smoked 4 or 5 times a week. This past week, I was unable to smoke marijuana, and on the third weed-less day, I seem to have had a pretty severe panic attack. I started breathing really heavily, and felt overwhelmed by feelings of stress and anxiety, and I was crying uncontrollably. This lasted for about 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, I still felt anxious and stressed, but the physical symptoms had calmed down. Is it possible that this is connected to marijuana-use? I’ve never heard of withdrawal symptoms, but that is the only out-of-the-ordinary change I’ve had in the days leading up to the attack.

You may have had slight anxiety before you began smoking. When you smoke you relax, which is why you wouldn’t realize your anxiety may have been getting worse.
Personally, I started smoking to stop my anxiety, but when you come off a high, or stop giving your body something to calm down, it gets anxious.
its not really a withdraw symptom, just your body getting back to its anxious state.
if it doesn’t stop go to your doctor for some medicine or go to a therapist, it helps a lot.
Sometimes marijuana itself is known to cause panic attacks. Ive smoked for about 7 years now just about everyday..when i had to go for awhile for a few short periods of time without it.. i was always super anxious, it calmed me down and i smoke it for many medical and recreational purposes. I get panic attacks when i get some to good of stuff sometimes, or if i had to much… but ive never gotten a severe panic attack on a day that i did not have it..just VERY anxious and in a bad mood and felt stressed over nothing. But everyone is different, maybe the change in the chemicals in your body from not having just happened to cause one. Are you a girl? cant remember your avatar. If you are, i always seem to only get them about a week before my period. Its all a hormonal chemical change i think in between my body and the bud. Who knows… just stay calm, realize you are NOT going to die, everything is ok.. try running in place and count your abc’s over and over again, sounds silly, but i usually start laughing at myself and totally forget i was even going through a panic attack.
