I have a bunch of symptoms a months after I had an anxiety attack, is there something wrong with me?

August 28th, 2009 by admin | Filed in Anxiety Attacks

About a month ago, in the middle of the night, I went to the emergency room because I had trouble breathing, my whole body was going numb and I was feeling very weak. They took some blood and urine tests and said everything was normal and that I just had an anxiety attack. Since then I have been having dull stomach pains, a feeling like my whole stomach is filled with air, feeling nauseated, have to force myself to eat most of the time. Sometimes it feels like there is something stuck in my throat. Also, mostly in the mornings around 5 am my blood pressure either goes up to about 130/90 and my heart starts beating at about 105 bpm and does not stop for over an hour. Sometimes its a bit difficult to breathe. If I go to sleep after 12 pm, it takes me a while to fall asleep. Also, at random times during the day, the back of my neck and head goes numb for random amounts of time. My parents are saying that the anxiety attack messed up my nervous system and all those things are just side effects of the anxiety and will soon go away. I want to believe them but am still wondering if there might be something else wrong with me. Are my parents right or is there something else wrong with me?

You are still experiencing anxiety which manifests itself with very physical symptoms. An anxiety attack did NOT mess up your nervous system. You are worrying so much that you are causing your B/P and pulse to go up. Anxiety also creates that numb feeling and has a very strong connection with how your stomach feels. It also interferes with sleep. If this keeps up, I suggest that you see a doctor. Try to get ahold of the situation, though. Stop worrying, stop taking your blood pressure, pulse, ect.

That could be caused by depression as anxiety is a symptom of it and the others can be too.

Just fyi about the anxiety it NEVER goes away. It is always affecting you but is only as bad as you had it during certain times. I have had it for 5-7 years maybe and have had to go to a psychiatrist twice when it flared up but it is always there.

Hey man dont worry I know it sux but Anxiety is crazy, I have anxiety attacks all the time, you should see a theripist if you want it to stop. But dont worry your fine they feel scary but nothing bad can happend. I f you try breathing in through your nose and out your mouth slowly, THAT SOMETIMES HELPS. Its not side effects though its just anxiety sometimes its real intense sometimes its mild. All depends

I’m 37 years old and I remember 20 years ago around this time I got bit by a bee at 4 in the afternoon…..At 2 in the morning I woke up with a chit load of hives all over my body…I was 17 years old and I woke up my parents and my mom said you have to go to the hospital

After waiting at the ER this doctor gave me a shot and said this is going to speed up your heart….boy it did and then he said I was probably allergic to bee’s and scared me by saying I could die ..which maybe true for some people but not me…it turns out 6 months later I ended up getting tested at an allergist…just ended up being mild

Anyways my point is for 4 months after that incident I was pretty full of fear because …think about bee’s are all over the place…so that’s when I took action and faced it by letting bee’s sting me and doing nothing but putting ice on it….FACE YOUR FEARS
