Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.
Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI – Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There’s this herb called "St John’s Wort" – it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John’s Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.
If you’re unable to take St John’s Wort, you can substitute it with Siberian Ginseng or Licorice Herb.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced… you have that "learned behavior" in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior – Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction… There are several other techniques to help cope them!

The Zoloft won’t cure your anxiety. It is merely a crutch to get you through the symptoms. What you need to do is find out what is truly causing your anxiety by meeting with a counselor. Then, once you deal with the real sources, you can begin to think about getting off Zoloft
what i’ve learned from zoloft and now topamax (both for anxiety) is that there is no cure for your symptoms. zoloft made me a zombie and i didn’t give a crap about anything for the month that i was on it. i probably didn’t talk much for that month either. i fell really behind in school (which was bad because it was only the first month) and now i’m still trying to make up for that. then, i thought topamax (at first) was a miracle drug. It made me so happy, not anxious, and gave me a lot of energy. then, after about 3 weeks of this, everything switched around. i got angry, paranoid and depressed. honestly, you can’t rely on just the medicine to make you feel better. try changing your diet and exercise more. it’s weird how eating better and getting out can relieve your anxiety. i just hate zoloft, i would get off if it doesn’t work for you. also, meeting with a psychologist or counselor would be a good idea since it helps get to the root of the problem. the medication you’re taking will only make you feel better for a little while.
