My Panic Attacks are pretty brutal. At first my fingers and cheekbones get numb then my stomach gets upset. It then gets very difficult to breathe and my heart starts beating very hard and I have an impending feeling of doom.
I have to take 6 mgs of Xanax a day to control them. Unfortunately my Doctor cannot figure out why I have them. These are called uncued panic attacks.
Cued panic attacks can be treated as there is a known trigger that sets them off. Agoraphobia is usually the main cause and can be treated. If you can figure out what triggers his panic attacks then he can seek therapy otherwise he may have to take meds to control them.

Panic attacks can take many forms. For me, it was not the dramatic type of response that one would associate with an "attack." Instead, I got very short of breath even though I’d be sitting still. I couldn’t think straight and my heart would pound. A really bad attack would make my hands feel numb and shake.

My anti-anxiety medication helps brilliantly but I can’t avoid all attacks.

If you have a friend or relative who suffers from anxiety or panic attacks, you may be wondering what is an anxiety attack and what can be done to stop it? Anxiety attacks are feared and dreaded by those who suffer from them. They can make your heart beat rapidly, clutter your mind and make you tremble with fear. Many who experience these attacks find it difficult to breathe or swallow.

Take deep long breaths. Breathe in your nose and blow out your mouth. Slow deep breaths. Relax. You are not going to be harmed by an anxiety attack. They are scary. Focus on good slow long deep breaths.

Random feeling of extreme anxiousness for no apparent reason.

Therapy is usually important, medication possibly, depending on the case.

As for natural… the only way to naturally cure it is though own personal will power, forcing oneself to take back the control the anxiety has stolen away. That was my only way though it, I didn’t want to allow it to control me anymore, instead I was dead set determined to control IT instead, and taught myself how to acknowledge that nothing bad is happening around me, everything is fine, and to refocus my mind onto something else. Making myself preoccupied with something else really helped a lot.

If you think about the attack and keep fearing it’s coming on and happening, you only feed it and make yourself more anxious. Refocus the mind and don’t let yourself think about the anxiety and chances are it will stop. Do that every time and it may let up. Could still take a long time for it go to away completely, but it could certainly ease it.

As bad as mine were when I was a kid, I’m grateful I managed to take back that control and force it to stop. I still got that slight uneasy feeling from time to time for years, and I suppose on a very rare occasion it might still show up, but I haven’t had an attack in a very long time. I never took a bit of meds for it. And at that time people hadn’t even a clue about this. My parents tried to find help, but in the end I was on my own with it.

Panic attacks come in many shapes and sizes. They can last a few seconds or several days. The attack can have a sudden onset or build over several hours. We may experience acceptable discomfort or feel like our body and head are in the grip of a vice that’s getting tighter and tighter. For some of us, panic is triggered by a specific fear or phobia and Overcoming Fear and Phobia may help. For others, there is no apparent trigger, panic just happens out of the blue in a variety of circumstances and with varying degrees of embarrassment and pain. Panic is sometimes an occasional acute episode of an ongoing anxiety problem

Sometimes, an attack can be stopped if you hyperventilate on purpose, drink a cup of hot tea, drink a cold glass of water, shut your eyes, lay down, run 100 yards, sing a song, whistle, think of something funny (don’t try all these at the same time). When you find something that works for you, write it down and use it the next time.

Hey, I understand how you feel…

The uncomfortable symptoms like sweaty palms, "jelly" legs, extreme alertness, "impending doom" feeling and the fight-or-flight response.
I’ve been there. I’m an ex-victim. Sometimes the deep breathing or distraction techniques doesn’t work – a full-blown panic or anxiety attack happens later.
Sometimes you experience panic attack out of the blue and such.

Do NOT buy Panic Away, Linden Method, EasyCalm or the Panic Puzzle. They do NOT work – I’ve tried them and their solutions are similar – it DOESN’T WORK.
Medications do NOT work – I was under many antidepressants (Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil and Zoloft) and anti-anxiety medications (Ativan, Klonopin, and Xanax) but my condition was the same – no improvement at all.

The only program that really work is The Panic Attack Solution. It’s found by an ex-victim. You can check out his old blog in his official website to read up some useful tips.
But the package is the best – it teaches 17 powerful techniques and the real solution to panic attacks. I’ve bought it and it really helped me – it’s the BEST anti-anxiety package or book I’ve read.
His theory really makes sense and it works effectively!

You will learn why your panic attacks can happen without warning sometimes; why having stimulant causes panic attacks; and many-many other useful tips!

There’s a lot of confusion over what the symptoms a panic attack actually are. Much of this confusion can be attributed to the media’s misrepresentations of panic attacks and the lack of real knowledge by the general public. This leads to clinomorphisms in which a person will exaggerate their symptoms and call it a panic attack, when all it is is a moment of great surprise or unpleasantness.

Panic attack signs are one of the most generalized signs that you can experience. You never know that you are having them until they frequently hit you and you go to a doctor and have him explain them to you.
