Anxiety or heartburn?

December 11th, 2009 by admin | Filed in Anxiety Symptoms

Okay, about a week about I started having some chest pains and slight shortness of breathe. Went to the ER thinking it was heart related. They took a lot of bllod, did an EKG and chest x-ray and all tests came back fine. They told me to follow up with my dr. this week which I did. They think it is stress/anxiety since I have been dealing with a lot over the past couple of months. Death in family and then I had a miscarraige plus little things going on with the house, ie frozen pipes, etc. Anyway, she prescribed me Zoloft. I am scared to take anything like this because I have been feeling fine the past couple of days. The only thing I have it chest tightness off and on. I haven’t taken the Zoloft yet. Would like to try something all-natural first. But then againm I don’t know if the pain is just heartburn as I have never had that before. I have it the better part of a day. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I am a healthy 25 year old female with a great life and fiance.

One Response to “Anxiety or heartburn?”

I too went to the ER for them to only tell me it was anxiety; I was stuck with a $1600.00 bill. What I ended up having was a panic attack, which I thought was a stroke. Don’t be afraid of medication, it does work. I am the kind of person that doesn’t like to be medicated, but I have been in BuSpar for the last two months and have felt a HUGE improvement. My psychiatrist also prescribed Effexor, but refuse to take it as I don’t want to overlap medications. I’m 28, married, and take on a lot of stress.

See a pdoc and see what your options are. I would suggest, however, seeing a counselor about your miscarriage. I’m sorry to hear your loss, I was in your shoes close to 8 years ago. I took Zoloft for a while (actually twice in my lifetime) and I didn’t feel like it was working on me. Should you decide to try medication, there are some things to keep in mind: it could take a while before you start to notice a change and you might have to switch a few times before you find what it good for you.

You said it yourself, you have a great life and a fiance. Live it up, girl! Life is tough, but its so much better to have someone by your side than be along during the low times.

    Much love and happiness!
