Am I crazy?

December 3rd, 2009 by admin | Filed in Anxiety Symptoms

My brother in law passed away about a month ago. He died in his sleep at 21 years old. Since then I’ve become a total hypochondriac…I feel as though I have some unseen illness thats killing me. My anxiety level is through the roof. I’ve seen my GP about it and she put me on lexapro which I tried to take, but it makes me REALLY spacey, to where I can’t even drive, even on a low dose. The only physical symptoms I’m having are things that COULD completely be related to stress and anxiety. But here’s the thing…my gut feeling is telling me something is wrong. Do I go through all the medical exams to make sure or would I benefit more from a psychiatrist?
The only physical symptoms I have are headaches, appetite comes and goes, just an overall blah feeling, like I’d much rather stay in bed and sulk than be out and about with friends. That can all be attributed to stress though.

    Can you let us know what your physical symptoms are? There are a lot of diseases that are left undiagosed and untreated because of the term hypochondriac.

    Edit – goto your doctor again about the headaches and fatigue. They can send you to a neurologist to get a scan on your brain to rule out any problems like MS for example. Don’t want to freak you out, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Sometime doctors are very hard to work with – you need to keep pushing and keep aking questions….and complain to them – that’s what they’re there for!

    your problem as you said is most likely related to stress…if you’re crazy chances are you wouldn’t know or believe that you are…that’s how i know that I’m not. try to relax OK?

    It sounds like you are grieving and are stressed out by what happened to your brother in law.
    It might be a good idea to speak to a counsellor, so you can talk it all through.
    Talking to your doctor in more detail might help to determine if there is a physical problem.

    ask your doctor about xanax, or clonazapam. they have a high risk for dependency though, also read into how the substance MDMA, was used as treatment for post traumatic depression, and anxiety back in the 1970’s.

    hypochondriac..it spells mental abuse on you and your body.stress will send all those chemicals you produce and make things worse , just because someone else got sick and died , doesn’t mean you will. I"m juts asking { did you think something was wrong with you BEFORE or AFTER he died .} Stress will get you down,stress will make you sick ,stress will create chemicals in your body that are destructive to you mentally and physically and you know what,You won’t even know it until you worry so much and ask the question { Am i crazy ? }
